In a world swimming in despair, finding and feeling joy is an act of protest.
It’s quiet in here.

For a few seconds at a time, it is silent. It is silent right now. The snow is beautiful. Bright white, a contrast to the dark brown of the almost barren tree outside my window. A few yellow leaves still hang onto the limbs. The tops of the dark green bushes outside my window are covered in white. The flakes steadily fall down at a quick pace. The sky is white. My freshly assembled and decorated artificial Christmas tree sparkles with a flickering star on top. Joy – the feeling of great pleasure and happiness — is here. I feel great pleasure being here right now. We’re kicking off Advent tomorrow, and we are focusing on Joy to start the season. Here in this moment, this amazing scene outside the steadily falling snow, it is beautiful. And in this peace, I feel joy.
